what?!?!?

I came home from work last night....late (midnight) and I find out that when my daughter got to school yesterday her and another kid from her bus went to the principal about a little girl in kindergarten because this other child threatened my daughter and a by in her class (they are in 3rd grade) on the bus...she said that when my daughter goes to her home for her sisters party that she is going to take a knife and put it through my daughters head. Let me just tell you that this little girl is a total brat who lives down the street and tries to get attention the wrong way because her parents don't pay enough attention to the children that they have.

I was pissed when I got home and heard this. I was home almost all day....I never got a call...the school has no reason that they could not have called me....they have my home#, my cell#, Greg's cell#, my best friends cell#(as a contact). I made the decision to go to the school to get answers this morning.

I went into the school to talk to the principal and she made me mad because she kept saying that she was sorry....that was not good enough and what would she say if that girl brought a knife or gun into school and hurt my baby or somone else. I wanted to know why I was not called and she told me that she had to investigate and she was not done until late in the afternoon....my response was "well, I can be reached 24 hours 7 days a week....that is not good enough for me" and I also made it clear that I expect a call the same day if something like this is to ever happen again. I take this seriously and I expect the same from the school. I left the school felling secure in the fact the my concerns were valid and heard. I do not have time for this....there are to many things going on in the school today and my daughter should not be in fear of going to school. She was fine this morning and she knows that she can come to me or Greg about this or any other issue.

The school can not let me know how the other child will be disciplined but they did talk to the bus driver and several of the kids on the bus. I never thought that I would have to deal with this (not with a child in kindergarten).

My heart just fell into my stomach...I can't even imagine something like that happening. I'm so sorry...good for you for standing up to the Principal. I'm thankful my son's bus ride is only 10 minutes...peace.

Wow. It's really good your daughter knows the right things to do - and does them - when faced with something like this. And it sounds like you made sure the principal isn't able to let the incident glide past.

I am glad that you went to the school and talked to the Principal. It seems to be more and more common for parents to find out about something that happened in school that they should have been called about either after school or the next day. My 5 yr old neice, who is in Kindergarten, has what they call the light system at their school. Green= good, yellow=timeout, etc down to Red which is a note home and no recess. Well, since its everybodys fault but hers, she is constantly in trouble. This went on for a while and finally, my mother(who has guardianship over her and my nephew) told the teacher to call her right then and there so that she can come to the school and have a talk with Miss Ma'am. She doesnt want to wait on the note or until the end of the day/week. LOL, with all that said I'm glad that they now know to contact you right away.
