he's alive

I work in the credit department and we collect payments and fix salesmen mistakes. We send people to the lawyer when they receive service and do not pay after a few attempts to collect their debt.

We got a letter from the lawyer that one of our customers passed away and we can not collect on his debt because he is the one that signed the contract for service. The job that I had before I started to work in the credit department I use to work very close with our customers. I was curious and asked what customer she got a notice about. I looked the information up in the computer as she was looking at a copy of the death certificate.

"He died in May 2004." She said
I was quiet for a moment and then I said....
"Hey, how could he sign a contract when he was dead for 5 months before his project?"

This guys wife signed a contract for business and refused to pay the balance because she signed his name on the contract because you can not collect from a dead guy. I have a MAJOR problem with that. I think she will go to hell for this.....how can she use her dead husbands name to screw people over. Some people have no class.

The lawyers are looking at the situation to see what they can do about it. It is pretty plain to see that is is her handwriting on the contract (in his name) and we have her signature on another piece of paper. I hope she gets what is coming to her.
