my friday

There were a few interesting things that had happened to day but this take place of all the small things that happened today.

I was standing at the computer to input some payments into our system and I had a perfect view of our plywood/sheetrock aisle I could see the guys trying to pull some plywood down from the top shelf and then I heard "watch out" from one of our lumber guys. I looked up just in time to see the sprinkler bust. I looked at the other guys at the desk with me(they had no idea what was going on) and told them they better come take a look. I tried to get a manager but of course no one answered the phone. We finally got in touch with them and the fire alarm went off.

The water from the broken sprinkler was spraying real good into the aisles. We had to have the fire department come out to turn the sprinkler off. It took them about 40 minutes to turn it off. There were 5 aisles that ended up with water damage to the products...all the wood, concrete, insulation, plywood, sheetrock, Styrofoam boards, etc....

The really sad part about it is that the guy who did it is a really good guy. He has NEVER had an accident like this before. I hope they don't make things to hard on him. We thought that they were going to close our store down but I made it through my shift but they were still in clean up mode when I was leaving for the day.

If you could have seen the water in all 5 aisles you would have been speechless. We all had to laugh because we needed to try to lighten the situation for everyone. I don't even want to think about how much money we have lost due to this.

Anyways, that was the highlight of my day.

Oh, what a mess! And those are the aisles that we sell tons of stuff out of. It would kill us down here in Hurricane Repair Land to loose all that drywall and insulation!

I hope your co-worker makes out ok. I mean, hey, accidents happen.

I work in retail too and a few years back had a small fire in the warehouse. There was more water damage done than the fire did. It makes such a mess.

This was only one sprinkler that broke I could not even imagin what damage would have happened if it was more than one

I am sure he will still have a job...it would be our loss if we lost him because he really is a hard worker
